As a community of diverse cultures lacking true diversity, South Florida is a melting pot that never melted and a salad that was never tossed. For two South Florida social entrepreneurs the answer was simple- get them all connected and do so in a way that will get them to work together, build together, and thrive together.
Connecting our Cultures has selected a universal project that not only brings a diversity of cultures together, but is meaningful to all, and by building the world's largest Sukkah made solely out of MEGA BLOKS™ together we will raise funds for partner charities, unite diverse communities and cultures, and spread the message of unity, collaboration, and building together.
Connecting our Cultures is on a mission to build the world’s largest Sukkah and enter the record books, specifically the Guinness World Record Book! But this is not all about eternal fame and glory ;p. No, we are on a mission to satisfy our name and connect our cultures! Today more than ever we want to live in harmony, learn from each other’s backgrounds and make life peaceful! Many non-profit charities have partnered with Connecting our Cultures to make this dream a reality. When you buy a $3 mega blok, $2 of that will go directly to one our partnering charities to fulfill the great work they are doing (the other $1 goes to Connecting our Cultures to be reinvested in educational and cultural diversity programs in the community).
One of the organizations that has partnered with Connecting our Cultures is WIZO Florida. WIZO began in 1920 as an international movement of Zionist women. Their goal is working for the welfare of Israeli citizens, helping in the operation of hundreds of education and welfare projects and services. WIZO Florida is one branch (out of 50 federations through out the world) that operates in Florida to help Israeli citizens in need. WIZO Florida recognizes that there are tens of thousands of Israelis who need aid and works to provide assistance to all sectors of the community, from babies to the elderly. They provide aid to teenage girls in distress and battered women, who receive shelter, psychological aid, treatment, rehabilitation and legal assistance. They enrich the lives of children in day care centers, high schools and youth clubs. And they give a helping hand to senior citizens by providing clubs, sheltered workshops and the Parents Home in Tel Aviv. WIZO is recognized by the United Nations as a Non-Governmental Organization with consultative status on key international organizations such as ECOSOC and UNICEF.
